An Inside Look at the Liberty Conference All-Star Players [1]

Stony Brook University's Bryan Michel [4] will lead an all-star cast of Liberty Rugby Conference [5] student-athletes in a contest against the Republic of Texas All-Stars in Bermuda on August 10, 2017. With a spectacular Stony Brook career including several Empire Conference championships, Michel is poised to continue his winning ways on the popular destination island of Bermuda.

The newly formed Liberty Rugby Conference [5] makes its debut in style at the URugby Collegiate Rugby All-Star Cup [6] scheduled just before the -destined to be epic- match between USA Islanders and the Saracens [7]. Together the two matches make up the 2017 Atlantic Rugby Cup [8]. The Liberty Conference begins league play in earnest this fall. Liberty Conference teams include Delaware, Iona College, Fordham, Rutgers, Stony Brook, Albany, Syracuse, Colgate, Binghamton, Brockport, Rhode Island, Tufts, Fairfield, UMass, Northeastern and UConn.

In an interview with Andrew Gheraldi, Fordham's Head Coach and Liberty Conference Commissioner, Gheraldi stated, "we joined and formed the Liberty Conference to have like minded schools/institutions in the Northeast, who wished to compete at the highest level of rugby, join together."
